By joining a Crypt game server, signing in to this website, or taking part in our Discord,
you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not play on our servers.
The Crypt is a community project run by volunteers in their own time. It is free to play.
Nothing here creates an employment relationship, a partnership, or a contract to supply a
service for payment.
2. Who we are not
The Crypt is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bohemia Interactive a.s.
DayZ and all associated trademarks belong to Bohemia Interactive. We are also not affiliated
with Valve, Steam or Discord. We are a private community server running the game they made.
Playing here does not change your obligations to Bohemia Interactive or Valve. Their terms
still apply to you, and ours do not override them.
3. Who can play
You need a legitimate, non-banned Steam account that owns DayZ.
DayZ is rated PEGI 18 / ESRB Mature. Play it at an age appropriate for that rating.
One person, one account. Sharing accounts, or playing on an alt to evade a ban, is a bannable offence in itself.
If Bohemia or Valve has banned you globally, you cannot play here either.
4. Conduct and rules
The full server rules live in our Discord and are part of these terms. In short, the following will get you removed:
Cheating. Hacks, scripts, macros, third-party tools that give an advantage, or anything that modifies the game client to circumvent our systems.
Exploiting. Duplication bugs, glitching through walls, abusing a broken mod. Finding one and reporting it is welcome. Using it quietly is not.
Player killing. This is a PVE server. Deliberately killing other players is the one rule that defines us.
Griefing. Blocking bases, stealing from teammates in bad faith, trapping players, destroying builds for no reason.
Harassment. Slurs, threats, sexual harassment, targeting someone across sessions, or doxxing anyone.
Impersonating staff or claiming to speak for The Crypt.
Attacking our infrastructure. Attempting to break into the website, the API, the database or the game server.
Staff decide whether something breaks the rules. Where a situation is not covered by a written
rule, staff apply judgement, and the spirit of the rules is what counts.
5. Bans and access
We may warn, mute, kick, suspend or permanently ban any account, at any time, with or without
prior notice, where staff judge it necessary to protect the server or its players. We may do
so without publishing the evidence, because publishing it often tells cheaters exactly what we
detect.
You can appeal a ban through a ticket in Discord. Appeals are read. Being banned does not
entitle you to compensation, to a refund of any donation, or to the return of anything your
character was carrying.
6. In-game items and progress
The important part
Nothing in the game belongs to you. Bases, vehicles, gear, currency, garage
contents and bank balances are entries in our database. They have no real-world value,
they cannot be sold or traded for money, and you have no ownership right in them.
They can be lost, and eventually they will be. Expect:
Wipes. Server wipes happen, sometimes on a schedule, sometimes because a mod update forces one. We announce them in Discord when we can.
Bugs. DayZ and its mods lose items. Sometimes we can restore them from the logs, sometimes we cannot.
Decay and raids. Bases decay and can be raided within the rules.
Shutdown. If the server closes, everything on it goes with it.
Staff restore lost items as a courtesy when the logs support it. That is a favour, not an
obligation, and it is not available once the logs for that period have been deleted.
7. Donations
Donations are handled through Discord and go towards server hosting and mod costs. They are
entirely voluntary.
A donation is a gift, not a purchase. You are not buying goods, services, items or status.
Donations are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
Donating does not buy immunity from the rules, influence over moderation decisions, or an advantage over other players. This is a PVE server and it stays fair.
Any perk offered to donors is a thank-you that we may change or withdraw at any time.
Do not donate money you cannot afford to lose. If you need it back, keep it.
Filing a chargeback instead of talking to us will result in a permanent ban.
Only donate if you are the account holder for the payment method and are old enough to use it.
8. The store page
The store page on this website is a catalogue. Prices displayed there are in in-game
currency. There is no checkout on this site and no payment is taken through it.
9. Availability
The servers and this website are provided as-is and as-available. We do not guarantee uptime.
Restarts, maintenance, mod updates, hardware faults, DDoS attacks and provider outages all
happen, and some of them without warning.
We may change, restrict or discontinue any part of The Crypt, including shutting it down
entirely, at any time and without liability to you.
10. Mods and third-party software
Our servers run mods published by third parties, downloaded through the Steam Workshop. Those
mods are not ours; we do not control their code, their quality or their updates, and we are
not responsible for bugs they introduce. Keep your mods updated through Steam and install
them from the Workshop only.
11. What you post
You are responsible for what you write in chat, on our Discord, and on anything you build in
game. Do not post anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to post. We may
remove content and take down builds without notice.
Screenshots and clips of gameplay on our servers may be used to promote the community. If a
clip shows you and you would rather it did not, ask us and we will take it down.
12. Liability
The Crypt is provided without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We are not liable for lost progress, lost items, lost time, data loss, hardware issues, or
any indirect or consequential loss arising from playing here.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence,
for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Disputes
We would rather sort things out directly. Open a ticket in Discord and tell us what happened.
Nearly everything, including ban appeals and item restoration, is settled that way.
Our staff are volunteers spread across several countries, so these terms do not nominate a
single national court. Any statutory rights you have under the law of your own country are
unaffected by that.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last revision, and meaningful changes
are announced in Discord. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Questions about any of this belong in a Discord ticket. See also our
Privacy Policy.
